Avoiding a breakdown
The RAC were called out to over 2.5 million breakdowns in 2003. Many of these could have been avoided. The most common problems were flat or non-functioning batteries, and flat or non-serviceable tyres - neither the stuff of car maintenance nightmares.

It’s interesting to read through the top ten causes of breakdown, and common sense to put into practice the checks that can prevent them. There are also some simple self-help tips so that if you do experience a problem, you might be able to fix it yourself, mostly without even having to leave the driver’s seat, let alone lift the bonnet…
